Oh, Sleeper

I think either or both of those might fit what you are looking for.

I second Tourniquet, the Stop the Bleeding album is a guitar masterpiece. perhaps Deliverance album What a Joke, though it's more straight ahead chuggy metal if that makes any sense.

my latest album isn't all that great in regards to solos, but has lots of low chuggy stuff in differing tempos and time signatures if you are interested. search for Fleshbane on this board, I know I posted a url to download the whole thing for free.
I second Aletheian's Dying Vine Re-release.

Dying Vine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's a great album that's pretty technical. It's Christian too.

The first bands that came to my mind was BTA and Extol, but they've already been recommended. Here's some of my recommendations.

The Showdown's A Chorus Of Obliteration. It's the only "technical" The Showdown album, and their only good album all together IMO, but it's some of the best Christian death metal that I've listened to. I wouldn't call it quite as technical as BTA, but I would call it fairly technical. I highly recommend it, just don't try to kind technical stuff in any of their other albums, or else you'll be disappointed.

YouTube - The Showdown - From The Mouth Of Gath Comes Terror

Also check out their song "Hell Can't Stop Us Now".

Immortal Soul's Wintereicht also sound like a good fit. But I can't find much on Youtube, so no links.

That's all I can think of, I really don't listen to much technical stuff, though I never really thought about it that way before.

My recommendations are more of the classic kind of metal:

Seventh Avenue - YouTube - Seventh Avenue: Futures Dawn
Seventh Avenue (great instrumental) - YouTube - Seventh Avenue: Storm II

Impellitteri - YouTube - Impellitteri - Spanish Fire
Impellitteri - YouTube - 17th Century Chicken Pickin'

Rob Rock - YouTube - Rob Rock: Eyes Of Eternity
Rob Rock - YouTube - Rob Rock The Hour of Dawn, Pt 2 (ending of the song Hour of Dawn - it's solo time!)

Theocracy - YouTube - Theocracy - Absolution Day

Divinefire - YouTube - Divinefire - Hero

Slav Simanic - YouTube - SLAV SIMANIC - I'm Going Up Higher.wmv
Slav Simanic - YouTube - Slav Simanic - Let It Go.wmv
Slav Simanic (instrumental) - YouTube - SLAV SIMANIC-MESSAGE OF THREE ANGELS.wmv

I want some songs that sound awesome and will take me a good long time to learn. I've really been into between the Buried and Me lately and they seem to have a lot of talent. Their songs are difficult to play and sound awesome. What I don't want is bands like Living Sacrifice. Yes they sound awesome and I love listening to them, but their guitar lines just aren't "meaty" enough for what I want. The solos are sweet but the rest of it isn't usually super difficult.

Btw, hard rock is totally fine too, I just want something that'll make my head bang and make me put a good amount of effort into learning their songs. And if not "Christian", at least clean and morally upright lyrics that a Christian could agree with.
Demon Hunter man!!!!!!
That says it all.

I love Demon hunter too, but they're definitely not very technical.

I guess that depends on your definition of technical. they don't spit out a million notes per minute solos or 10 minute 150 track guitar epics. but their songs aren't slapped together either. It's hard to get the message of God when your guitars override the entire song.

The TC specifically said that he's not looking for bands like Living Sacrifice, and in terms of technicality, Demon Hunter is comparable to Living Sacrifice. Demon Hunter definitely doesn't just throw their songs together, but that doesn't mean they're a technical metal band. And that's not a bad thing, but I don't think Demon Hunter is the kind of band the TC is looking for.
