Danelectro Cool Cat Metal

So currently I've been using my Danelectro Fab Tone for my high gain stuff (the J&H doesn't really seem "high gain" to me) but it seems to be... oh I don't know. I guess it just isn't working for how I want it. The Cool Cat Metal pedals can be found for $30 so I'm curious if anybody has tried them. I have the transparent overdrive which is just wonderful so I'm wondering if the metal is the same. The Fab Tone is good, but it just seems to have this weird mojo that isn't really what I'm looking for in a high gain pedal.

What kind of high gain are you looking for? Check this vid. Seems to be a one trick pony....and sounds a bit cheap to my ears. I always thought that the Fab Tone seemed way too fizzy when you added a lot of gain to it.

Of course, you can't really go wrong trying out cheap pedals.....not much of an investment.

I can get a pretty high gain tone with my J&H and my BDAB. The key for me is make sure my amp is already a little bit dirty, then run the Hyde side with the gain at about 3 o clock, then have the BDAB after the J&H to push the amp a little harder to get some extra grit and add clarity. Works like a charm. "Metal" pedals generally suck, imo.

I might have to try that, akaukal. Although, I am kind of digging the review videos. I do understand how people could consider them cheap, but maybe that is just the sound I'm going for I guess? I don't know. I hear the cheap-ness, but I also like it haha. I might just try selling my fabtone and pick up one of these.

BDAB into the TOD into a dirty amp might get a killer high gain tone...

I hate most high gain pedals. The best cheapy IMO is the nano metal muff.
