New scoot!!!!!(Now with $3 paintjob!)

So I don't think I made it even one whole year without a bike.........

I've been looking for fun/economy ride for a while now. With my only running vehicle being a '94 F-250, I wanted something that would be a bit better on gas, and more enjoyable to drive as well. So I've been going through CL ads and looking into project cars and bikes(and just cheap stuff) to pick up and have for my good weather driving.

Saw an ad come up last night, got in touch, went and looked first thing this morning, and then brought home.

1989 Yamaha FZR 600. Has a brand new battery, brand new rear tire, recent tune-up(including cleaning and synching the carbs) and I got the plastics and a new helmet thrown in as well. 38k on the clock. Weighs in at around 400 lbs., and produces 91 hp. All for 1K.

It is a decently high mileage older bike, but considering the price I'm pretty stoked. Rides and runs fantastic, handles amazing. I'm going to put the fairings back on, probably pick up a slip-on, and maybe do a tail conversion. Probably give it a new paintjob as well.

I'm excited.

You don't see a lot of bikes from the 80's looking that clean. Nice grab. Fun summer toy.

After I posted this I ran across something cool using stumbleupon (which is becoming my favorite way to surf the web) I don't know if you've seen these helmets. Check em out. http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2app56...-helmet/14903/

It is pretty clean, has it's issues, but is pretty clean.

Those helmets are awesome! I want one.

When you're chasing Mel Gibson's Falcon through the desert in search of fuel, could you do a wheelie/beheading for me?

I'm wicked jealous.

It's rough around the edges, but a great runner, and tons of fun to ride. I can't wait for the warmer weather to stick around. I brought it home in a snow storm....
