I have a classic 30 too and i am wondering is the dummy plug you used an open circuit or did you jumper the tip and ring together???? I am wondering so i can do this too.

I used a mono guitar jack that I had broken a long time ago. You don't want the ends jumpered together. I broke off the stems that the wire connects to, so they wouldn't touch anything. I'll try and get a picture of it at some point and I'll upload it here.
