Opera approved for iPhone

I'm testing it now.

I can't tell how much faster it is on every site, but it definitely makes browsing CGR a lot more enjoyable.

Posting from iphone.

Its quite different from safari...

I think it has it strengths, as does safari. I dont know if id consistently use one over the other.

Btw, notice the lack of spellcheck...bad for big thumbs like mine.

I, with the rest of the world, was insanely surprised when it was approved.

It's the top free download in all 21 app stores now.

Hm. No spell check would be a problem. Atleast, for posting on CGR. I need to get this and try it out.

iPod Touch.

I enjoy opera, but I'm waiting until 10.50 hits Linux until I download it again. Using Chrome at the moment.

I wonder, if with this approval, Apple will let other browsers in, like, say, Firefox. Wishful thinking?

I doubt it... Apple likes to be elite and different... Opera is kinda the poster child for that.

Well then, why did Apple approve Opera mini?

Because it is elite and different.

How so? It renders web pages, just like mobile safari. The only difference is speed and lack of spell check.

And Apple wouldn't let somebody be more "elite and different" than them.

Probably more likely so that the monopoly/anti-trust lawsuits have less of a case now.

It's also excellent for buttering toast.

The zoom is a little weird, and im not a fan of the lack of spell check, but it does load a little faster. I think that after a few updates, it maybecome my browser of choice for my ipod touch.

I personally like Safari way better. The zoom is messed up and not very accurate, there's no spell check, the interface isn't as stylish as Safari's, and I barely notice any speed differences. Sorry, but I'll stick with Safari.
