It would indeed be a huge problem if I had claimed that the government response was entirely sufficient to the task.
You have said "charities are enough", I have said "they are not".
I have not said "current government response is enough".
I have said that government helped many that charity had not. I used the 1920s as an example; though it's simple to look at the rest of the world today and see that despite charities existing there is death and disease and starvation. It's also easy to see that it's far worse in areas with bad government (say Hati, even before the earthquake) than those with good government; despite the number of charities involved.
