I believe it's traditional in Hollywood to portray people from Classical civilizations with British accents, and those at the rougher edges of those civilizations with Irish or Scottish accents. For American audiences, this gives us a sense of timelessness and otherness. The various American accents have only evolved in the past century or two, so our voice sounds odd to non-American English speakers in the mouth of an ancient.

YES AMERICANS HAVE THE ACCENTS, THE ENGLISH HAD THE LANGUAGE FIRST AFTER ALL

I wasn't hoping for them to sound American.. I just found it interesting that you don't really hear regional accents in movies unless it's a major West European area.

Perseus should have had a Georgia drawl... now THAT would sure mess the film up. And Zeus with a Canadian clip tossed in for good measure... eh?

Decent movie, not much more. I can't imagine seeing it in 3D would have made the action scenes that much better.

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal".
