Greetings, fellow Bandies, and please allow me to introduce myself.
I'm vocalist and guitar player for
Bright Red Tie, playing all over Idaho and eastern Oregon.
We don't define ourselves as a "Christian band" but as a band of Christians. That means we play our rock, blues and soul from a Christian perspective, what we call God-friendly music. We might play Ben Cantelon's "Happy Day", followed by a bluesy "John the Revelator" and then throw Chuck Berry's cheerful little "Back in the USA" in at the end of the set. We also do plenty of originals and some reworked hymns. It's a mix that seems to work; we're happy playing it and the variety appeals to a wide range of ages. It's nice when you see little kids, their teenage cousins, the dads and grandma all dancing around to one of your tunes.
We've been together for several years and played here and there, but just started getting real traction in the last couple. Last year we got to play so much our wives told us to cut back, so be careful what you wish for. Even blessings have consequences! This year we're trying to just play the things we feel will build the band and give us opportunities to bless others.
We're blessed enough to have a bass player who's set up his basement as a mini-studio, so we recorded our first CD there and it's done pretty well for us. It's not perfect but you can check it out at our website
Bright Red Tie . Thanks for looking!
