| multi effects for worship Hi there!
I am relatively new to this lead guitar in worship... but the kit i have in a small church is a squier telecaster (really like the sound this produces) through a 60w fender front man amp.
I am looking to buy a new multi effects pedal...I have a budget of £150 though, really cannot afford any more, ideally I would like to pay £130. The sound I would like to produce would be soul survivor sort of style lead /hillsong/ u2...you know the style I mean, good tap delay on board, amp modelling (vox ac30) maybe octave/ whammy...light distortion maybe some phase....if that makes sense?
these are the effects pedals I have seen, has anyone had any experience with these? and what would people recommend for this price range?
1. Korg AX3000G £130:
2. Line 6 Floor Pod (maybe the floor pad plus as shown £140):
3. Digitech RP 355 £155:
4. Zoom G2-1u £120:
5. Boss ME-25 £169 (Seen this for £140 though!) looks like the best one to me?:
What one would sound best for the style wanted? before others suggest... I know single effects pedals and tube amps will sound better, but i would just like the opinion of the best multi effects pedal.
Cheers!

| I had an ME33. I would just say, I would not go with a Boss ME effect.
I might consider the floor pod plus if you could swing it...
xtlive would be out of your budget. that would be my ideal.

| How much do used XTLs go for in the UK? I know 140 GBP is over $200 USD, and I've definitely seen XTLs for $200 in San Diego. |

| looked everywhere 2nd hand and the cheapest i could find for an XTL was 250quid simply cannot afford that on a pedal! what would the line 6 floor pod plus be like sound quality wise? its meant to be a decent set of kit! but want good ennough sound quality....
As stated the main effects needed would be overdrive, delay and distortion, octave would be cool just for my own use! if there are singular pedals you could point me to that would be cool! Amp modelling would be useful which is why I like the sound of the line 6 floor pod plus...its meant to have very good amp modelling and lots of delay options... but the boss me-25 uses the boss me-70 amp modelling which is meant to be brill and also has 5 sec tap delays!
obviously i completely understand that hillsong/u2/soul survivor is almost impossible to make with such limited kit...but im sure i can make my own sort of style!
I would also be looking upgrade my guitar but again nothing too pricey being a student:
so I can have a spare (my tele as spare)... now i know this is a squier...but the squier tele custom p90 looks to be exactly the sound I am after to go with a multi effects pedal! (google it and search reviews, looks like it would be great for high and low pitches and the p90's give it some real welly!)
The other guitar I looked at which i could go for, but i dont think it would suit my style as much: Gretcsh Pro Jet
the other one I saw was an epiphone firebird:
hope this helps a bit and you know what sound I would like!

| I use an ME 50, but basically I use the Chorus, a bit of tap delay and the volume pedal. |

| ME's are decent but you can't use them direct (all stomp modeling, no amps/cabs). If you only were to use it with your amp of course this wouldn't be a problem. What about this here? VOX ToneLab ST - NEW FAST DELIVERY on eBay (end time 19-Apr-10 04:17:37 BST) (ebay UK was the only British site I could find that had any Vox stuff, which I find slightly odd)
Any way, when it comes to Line 6's lower-end stuff (say, sub-XTL) it just isn't that good. Vox's quality seems to be pretty consistent across the spectrum.

| ok that vox looks quite decent, but thats strictly not true about the ME's pedals...the me 25 uses the amp modelling of the me70 which is meant to be extremely capable indeed!
im going to look into gettng the me50 2nd hand although this wont include amp modelling but the me25 seems almost best value!
but i will play with a few and see what i think myself! any advice on the suggested guitars? |

| Personally, I quite like the pocket pod I have. Sound quality is certainly decent. Better in my opinion than the Boss modeling i have heard. Really, really not a fan of how their new stuff even sounds.
Have you considered purchasing used off of ebay for a lesser price and having it shipped in? I know you could score one under 225USD sans shipping.

| hi cheers guys! really been considering hard about this and I think im going to try and look into the possiblities of using separate pedals instead of multi effects and give a few a try.
I have decided that the most required are overdrive/distortion and delay...maybe chorus and reverb later but not for now.
I would like to purchase an over drive and delay pedal and tuner possibly all for £150/170 ...would this be possible?
Could you guys suggest maybe a pedal/s recommended for each function i.e tuner, delay, overdrive, reverb and chorus?
think I will build my collection of pedals gradually if I do it... but I am not ruling out multi effects but can not see the top pedals used on ebay or anywhere
hope you can help find quality in my price range! |

| My personal opinion: You're not going to know what pedals will work for you until you get a better amp.
Start with the amp, it'll always give you the most tonal improvement.
Overdrives/distortions are especially a touchy subject, because they sound so drastically different from one amp to another. |

| Overdrive + SS amp does not always = good
If you're set with single pedals, Danelectro is always a decent starting place. They're cheap (some of them are almost dispensable) but some of them sound pretty decent.
