Aero Press FTW!

Heather's still not sold on it yet, but I am amazed at the results. One thing I absolutely adore in coffee is complexity of flavor, and in order to get the complex notes, I need it very strong. Of course, that means that bitterness can be a problem. The Aero Press lets me make a very strong cup with little to no bitterness at all. It's seriously worth the money.

1. Get a coffee grinder.
2. Do not panic! It's just a coffee grinder.
3. Get whole bean coffee.
4. Do not panic! It's supposed to look like shiny black beetles.
5. Grind the coffee.
6. Do not panic! It's supposed to smell awesome.
7. Make the coffee and enjoy.
8. Do not panic! It's supposed to be that good.
9. Rinse rinseable pieces and wipe non-rinseable pieces.
10. Do not panic! It's just the caffeine.

i take a little bit of ground coffee, mix it with equal-or-slightly-less-than-equal parts sugar, pour in equal amounts of water and milk, and heat it in a small metal pitcher on the range. right before it boils, i take it off the heat, swish it around a little bit, and pour it into a tiny coffee cup.

the end.

My wife and I have a 42 cup GE steel cannister-style perculator with a little faucet on the side. Its the type you see in a boardroom, church social or at presentations. We fill it up with water and place a cupful of Folgers in the top strainer before we go to bed each night, and the first one up in the morning plugs it in. And yes, the two of us generally drink the whole works each day. (We're retired) My wife is immune to the affects of caffeine. She can have three cups an hour before bed and she's in dreamland 2 minutes after the light goes off. Really!!

I was immune to caffein for along time... I've been cutting back on soda though so I'm a bit more sensitive.

Ever tried adding cinnamon or vanilla extract to your grounds before brewing? Highly recommended!

There's a Caribou coffee near here where the barrista suggested something called a "Cuban shot" to me once. I asked what it was, and he explained: You put the ground espresso in the holder-dealy, then put a packet of turbinado sugar and a scoop of ground cinnamon on top. The result is a lightly-flavored Americano (assuming you ordered an Americano) that is really pretty special.

the shot itself is actually called a cubano, and not everyone makes this b/c the sugar can build up inside the portafilter and clog it. this is actually my favorite way to have espresso (sans the cinnamon)

How the ladies at my church do that is they are large lots of strong coffee with the French press and mix with a bunch of cans of condensed milk in advance, and then funnel into the bottles milk gallon, and bring him to church or camp or another with them and keep them in the refrigerator.

Last year for Xmas my wife bought me a french press....since then, I've not been able to go back to the drip machine unless I'm using coffee for baking. The difference is ridiculous, and worth the extra minute it takes to clean up.

3 cups of hot water, 1/3 to 1/2 cups of coffee grounds, a pinch of salt, about 3 minutes. Great coffee.
