NPS: CP-70

In just about a week, I will be going to pick up a CP-70

I'm extremely stoked on this.
Details soon.

Nice!!!

I'd love one of those someday. I'd get along so well with my Rhodes...

Actually, details now.
I thought I was heading out, but I've got a moment.

When I lived in Ontario, my neighbour had a CP-70 and I just fell in love with it. I house sat for them a few times, and played it for hours and hours and hours.
I don't actually play piano well, or really know how to at all - but there is just something about the tone. When I sat down at it, songs just came out.
So since then I've just been dying to have one.

Slightly less then a year ago, I'm over at my best friends dads place. He lives out in the country and we were having a big jam out in this thing - I forget what it's called, but it's like a massive, massive round metal barn type thing.
I'm snooping around in it looking for cool stuff (because it's filled with cool old stuff) and I find a CP-70. I flip out, drag it out and set it up to find it's in great working condition - despite being a little out of tune.
Turns out, it has been sitting in there for about 20 years, unused.

Every time I've seen him since, I've asked about it. It's such a waste for it to just sit there.
Now two nights ago I sent him a message on facebook asking again and he finally gave. Told me just to come out for dinner one night with his daughter next week and I can leave with it.

He's not 'giving' it to me, in the sense that I'll own it. If he ever wants it back, I'll give it back to him. But as it's been sitting untouched for twenty years... I can't see that happening.

What I also like is that I had competition for this! ha

I found it, but over the last year it's been me and the keyboard player for my band both trying to butter him up for it each time we saw him.
My keyboard player is the guys daughters roommate.
I am the guys daughters ex boyfriend.

Slightly sad update - I was supposed to go pick this up tomorrow, but the guy isn't available until Wednesday, and unfortunately the only day this week I could borrow a truck was tomorrow.
This Tuesday I'm going out of town for either half of a week, or a week and a half, so this is all put off until I get back.

*sigh*

*Is getting excited*

If it doesn't rain, I'm picking this up on Sunday. Not owning a truck, organizing this has been rough. I've got a truck for Sunday, but there is no cover on it, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that is stays dry.

GET 'ER DONE.

I was just talking about a CP-70 part in a new song with one of my band mates yesterday. Then it was like "Man, too bad we don't have a CP-70 lying around".

Couldn't wait... got it.
Setting it up right now.

I'm as far set up as I can be without somebody giving me a hand...very excited.

I don't have a power supply, but I'm having one made in the next day or two.

Bam!

Not nearly as out of tune as I thought it would be, so that's awesome.
Sounds great acoustic, can't wait to get a power supply.
