| It's not the "having" that I take issue with. I could see myself owning dozens of pedals in the future and using all of them in my home studio. Live? Not so much. Right now I use three pedals: the SBN Trinity, Boss Tuner, and Boss DD-3. That's all I need for performing live. I could see myself adding a volume pedal or a wah, but I never want to have an overly complicated pedalboard. If I get to the point where I'm tempted to have 10 pedals for performing live, I'll get rid of them and plug directly into my amp.
Now, that's just for myself. Your mileage may vary. |

| I've got about 30 pedals. I only use one. If I'm really in need, I'll use four (boost, od, eq, delay). Though, bill has recently got me looking into the nova system....probably sacrilege...

It was liberating to only use an amp with dirt and reverb for a while, and I've been *cautiously* rebuilding my pedal collection again.
That's just for live contexts, though. I have pedals getting shipped to me and shipping out all the time just to try at home. I love having them around. When I own my own studio, I'll have a velcro wall with pedals just attached all over the place. |

| recently I have been practicing with some really out there sounds, and its fun to mess with weird, odd sounds.
For example, a philosopher's tone into a bdab into a micro pog into a reverse delay, into a dual delay and reverb with a few other tweaks on it. Is it over the top? Yes. Is it really, really fun? yes.
Does it sound like a guitar anymore? not sure on that point.
Add in some drive and it sounds like some form of evil organ sound.
Complex, yes, fun. Certainly. Practical for live use? Maybe actually.

| If I had a velcro wall, then I'd have to get a velcro suit. |

...out of curiosity, what's the one pedal? BDAB? |

| Yeah, it's ironic that I use more of SBN's effects than he does. |

I don't play many gigs anymore. Maybe if I did I would have use for more. That, and I really just don't like carrying around that much. About 3 years ago I played on the beach in Miami...after lugging around my rig (ac30 in one hand, massive pedalboard in the other, guitar strapped on my back) in the sand up and down the boulevard, I decided less is more. I've had plans drawn up for my own pete cornish type board for a few years now, but I've never gotten around to it.
I do lead worship weekly with an acoutic rig that has a bit more to it. EQ, Acoustimax, Re:Sounder, TU-12. I used to use a chorus in there, but never really had need for it.

| You know I never see acoustic guitarists in church around here (Sydney) using any effects units. Normally at my church, the acoustic guitarist just plugs into a DI and we add EQ and reverb from the desk and that's it.

| Why not just add another One Spot(or what ever power supply you like)? To me this seems like the easiest thing to do. I may be missing something because I don't know a lot about these type of things. |
