| Links to these videos you're talking about? When people say "pad sounds" I tend to think volume swells with delay and OD/Dist to get a violin like effect. |

check out that video around 7:30. this guy plays all over metro atlanta in various bands. i see what he's using but its all so expensive.
but listen to the sounds and see if there are other things that can do that

| At the 7;30 mark I think all he's doing is layering delays and using a bunch of reverb. I can get a similar, though not quite as rich sound running my Boss DD-5 into my Danelectro PB&J. |

Are you familiar with the term subdivision? |

| no.
but that is by no means standard.
he's stacking like 4 delays, not my idea of standard.

| Are you sure he's stacking four? I'm only hearing two delays going on there...a dotted 8th and a quarter note...He says exactly what he's doing, unfortunately I can't get my speakers loud enough at work to hear what he's saying. |

| I think you should just get a Line 6 M9. The particle verb and octo verb have those pad sounds you're after, plus all the Line 6 delay sounds you want, and you can have up to 3 on at once. You could probably sell your DD-20 as well. |

| Sounds to me like a quarter note delay from the Boss with a eighth note delay w/modulation from the Line 6 DL4 stacked on top. |

Anyone want to explain subdivisions? Cus I'm too tired to right now.
But anyways, the sound he has could be achieved with two delay pedals or one delay pedal with a multi-delay setting (such as a Nova Delay, or the Echo Park) with both of the delays set to an analog sound with a slight mod. Quote:
