| Chile Earthquake and Pacific Tsunamis Chilean Earthquake: Massive earthquake hits Chile, 214 dead | Reuters
Scary stuff. Luckily it looks like the death toll in Chile is pretty low, compared to the recent Haitian earthquake.
I'm watching the streaming video in Hawaii to see if there's some tsunami action. |

| Somewhere between sea levels raising 2 and 10 cm I heard in the papers for over here in Australia. Some of the Chilean coast got hammered pretty bad straight after the earthquake by tsunami - but they were obviously very close to the site of the quake. |

| Yeah.
California saw a 2 ft. difference, and Hawaii saw a 6 ft, I believe. Good thing! |

| I just got a new mate on the boat (about an hour ago) who is from Chili. He lives far from the epicenter, so his wife and children are OK, but his father in law lives where they were hit pretty bad. Obviously the mate is worried about his extended family. As you would expect he says getting food and safe drinking water are the biggest concerns at the moment.
As far as the tsunami's go, I read an article earlier about a bus full of fleeing tourists getting swept to sea. What a bummer. |
