New amp... Again

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this... but I bought a new amp. Again!

I felt the Dr Z Jaz just wasn't my thing. It's got a lot of that American 6V6 low mid breakup and I'm just not really a fan of that sound. I played Vox amps for so long I just got too used to british crunch.

So, I just bought a Bad Cat Black Cat R head off eBay!

I'm so excited. This is actually the amp that has been my dream amp for about 10 years now. I'm still not sure if this will still be real when I wake up tomorrow morning

I know I'm super spoiled with amps, but honestly I haven't invested any extra money in gear in several years. It all comes from making trades, or selling and buying something different. This amp was a great deal and I'll more than make up the price selling the Dr. Z so I figured I could let myself do it. (I know I don't have to justify this to you guys, but there you go)

Pics to come!

I've actually never had a chance to play one either, but it's an amp I've always wanted. I remember the first time I saw Jars of Clay live on their 11th hour tour Stephen Mason was playing a DC-30 and I've loved that tone ever since!
I also keep thinking about my Bad Cat Cub II. There's just something about the Bad Cat tone that I love. I've missed it in every other amp I've had since then.

I think this might be "the one"

So it sounds like a dc-30?

Basically it is a dc-30 (well, hc-30 since I'm getting a head). Mark Sampson left Matchless and started Bad Cat and the Black Cat is his DC-30 with a new name. Some of the early models are even made from parts labeled "matchless"

So it sounds very close to my frenzel HB-WC30. (Just what I have to compare it with, was close enough for me to pass up a dc-30 for a good price. Was looking at some bad cats. Probably won't bother as I like my frenzel.)

Sweet, sweet, sounding amps. I think for the non-hard stuff I play this is my ideal amp as well.
