have you used a software synth live?

I was wondering if I using something like Native Instruments Absynth or B4 would work well live.

I've never used a softsynth at all. But I know of MANY people who use B4 live and are loving it. All you need to do is make sure your laptop and MIDI interface are fast enough so you won't get any lag.

I think it would work well, if you had a nice enough computer. A laptop hefty enough to run some softsynths would be fairly expensive, though it would be worth it I guess for everything you get! The B4 is amazing, get the demo and see for yourself. I was completly blown away by the sound, it even beat out the new Korg B3 to my ears (still not as cool as a real hammond!). The Pro 5 plug in is also very good, almost instant '80s! The Retro softsynth works very well, as long as you remember to close windows you arn't using. It isn't as powerful as some softsynths, but it is still pretty good. I have some stuff I did on it around here somewhere if you want to hear it.
