He wasn't in a ton of westerns, but I think it's worth mentioning, Sam Elliott plays a cowboy about as good as anybody.
| Another good thing about the Sacketts and Shadow Riders. |

| Honestly never seen one.
My girlfriends family is MASSIVE on them.
Every now and again they have 'western night' where they put on cowboy hats, get out the toy guns and have a marathon.
I'm going to be attending the next one - will report back after. |

| What about Blazing Saddles. I like Blazing Saddles....not quite a western, but kind of.

| Seriously, guys, "Once Upon a Time in the West." It's Sergio Leone's masterpiece.
And I would argue that the remake of "3:10 to Yuma" is actually a superior film. It's pacing is much tighter and it has fewer extraneous characters. |

| I've always put off watching Once Upon a Time in the West because it's so long. |

And Ax, John Wayne is still one of my personal favorite actors. Rio Bravo and Stagecoach are in my ten favorite movies of all time. Not greatest, but FAVORITE. And The Shootist, made almost at the end of his career, is a fantastic piece of cinema, because it's a pseudo distant sequel to almost every role the Duke ever played. | I like both 3:10 to Yuma's. They are both good, I prefer the old one though. I think now is a good time to bring back the western. Hell, give me a camera and I'll make one!
Also the Shootist was THE last film. Quote:

I just learned this week that they are remaking True Grit. I'm not super excited, we'll see. I am generally not a fan of remakes at all. Remaking True Grit is even more heinous as it's a JOHN WAYNE MOVIE! And NOBODY and I mean NOBODY can do what John Wayne did.

I grew up watching westerns, but moreso western TV Shows rather than movies.
Some of my favourites are as fallows: Wanted: Dead or Alive
Gunsmoke
Have Gun - Will Travel
Bordertown
Laredo
Bonanza
The Rifleman
Rawhide
The Lone Ranger

| I haven't seen a ton of western's, but Tombstone is one of my favorite movies. I saw The Alamo with Billy Bob Thorton a few days ago and it was good. |
