Complimenting a telecaster.....

Hey guys I'm looking for a guitar to compliment my tele, I would really like something humbuckerish /P90ish. Any suggestions? I already have a gretsch I can use almost any time I want and was wanting somewhat of a thicker more distorted sound at times..

Les Paul.

I find that if I was going to pick any two guitars to play for the rest of my life I would pick an LP and a tele.

If you want to go nuts with it, I'd suggest a rio grande bastard in the neck and a humbucker at the bridge. VERY versatile setup, kind of like the BFG.

I agree, Les Paul. My 3 main guitars are a Gretsch, Tele and LP.

Personally, I've never been a fan of the Les Paul. The switch is in completely the wrong place for me. That said, a good complement to a telecaster for me would certainly be a LP-style of guitar, but not actually an LP.

Maybe you should try a Gibson The Paul Firebrand . I have one and the switch is in the standard place for other guitars. If push came to shove I would take it over my pimped out studio.

Good call. I'll look into that one when I'm in the market for another guitar.

I actually like the upper switch better than the "standard." Seems to be more convenient to me, maybe because I don't like reaching as far (not lazy..)?

Uhh, thats exactly why I prefer the lower switch. My palm is always near my bridge.

I always end up accidentally hitting the switch on a regular Les Paul while I'm playing. That's why I can't stand it.

Another good compliment to a Tele might be an SG.

When I want to compliment my Telecaster I tell it how awesome it is and give it a fresh set of strings.

Not to completely avoid your question...but...
Empress Effects ParaEq Pedal ?
Some EQ goes a very, very long way.

If you've already considered it and are set on a new guitar, perhaps a jazzmaster?
I absolutely love them.

I'd say look at prs guitars ... they're becoming really big nowadays and they have like 50 models ... I'm sure you could find something you like in there ... I highly recommend them ... If you want to take a look. It probably won't hurt you to.
