| i hate my stupid guitar! it makes me so mad!!
i just got it back from the tech, and his blocking the trem and putting the tusq nut on helped tuning STABILITY i cant get the frikken thing in tune first.
i've tuned it with multiple tuners, one supposedly accurate up to plus or minus .01 cent, and they are always jumpy when im trying to tune, so i tune teh od way by ear, and i get each string in tune, play a chord and its way out.
what the crap!?! |

| How do you know it helped stability if you can't get it in tune? ..or maybe I'm misunderstanding you. Hmm.
Surely he tuned it and played it, right?
If you're trying to tune by ear, it's no wonder it sounds out of tune.
A little tip for you: Always tune UP to pitch and not down. If your note is reading sharp on the tuner, tune it flat then bring it back up. Try that and properly letting the strings stretch out by tugging on them a little around the 12th fret (that's good enough for me usually) then retuning. Go through that several times.
Also try switching to your neck pickup if you're plugging into the tuner. Play the open string with your thumb LIGHTLY. Don't pick the strings hard when you're trying to tune.
If you're trying to tune an electric guitar with the mic on an electronic tuner, that's a bad idea as well. It won't have enough volume to give the tuner a good read. |

Then play a few open chords, then play a few barre chords around the 5th fret, then a few at the 7th or 9th. |

| Get a Squier, and get it set up by a guitar tech. They're decent guitars with a set up. Or better yet find a used USA Peavey. They go for as little as $100-$300 on ebay and they're the best quality I've ever seen for the price. Or you could buy an Agile from Rondo Music Home Page.
Save your money and you'll be surprised how just $5 at a time can add up. I'm 17, with no job, and I have almost $900 saved up by just not spending any in the last year and a half.
