Alright, let's get a current upbeat song thread going.

So what have you introduced in the past six months that's working?

For me, I recently brought in -

Freedom is Here - United
Song of Hope - Robbie Seay Band
You Deserve - United
No Reason to Hide - United
My Savior Lives - New Life/Desperation Band
Hosanna - Paul Baloche

I'm looking for a good upbeat song to introduce in the next few months. But everything that I like and I think could work, is in the complete wrong key for female voices, and we only have female song-leaders.

Any suggestions people?

Then transpose the key of the song down just a tone etc?
i.e. make the D a C, make the C a Bb etc?

Which songs are you interested in, we could all see if we have more comfortable keys that we play in.

Song Of Hope (Robbie Seay Band)
Happy Day (Tim Hughes)
Shout Of The King (Matt Maher)

etc

I've played around with Keys for these songs, but haven't had any luck.
Plus, I don't want to make it impossible for the guys in our congregation to sing along.

Incidentally, are baritones or tenors more common?

In my experience, baritones are far more common.

Perhaps in the actual congregation baritones are more common. Most of the worship leaders that are well known are probably tenors though (Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, David Crowder, etc.)

"You Are the Light" by Michael Gungor Band. Lisa, Michael's wife, sings the lead and it is a very fun song.

Look up Jesus Culture version of "Happy Day". My wife leads that one and the congregation LOVES it. Let me know if you would like a chord chart. It'll save ya some work.
