Not just installers.. those are backed up on my flash drives, haha.

Entire softwares and registry files and system files and everything... because with some softwares (i.e. MICROSOFT STUFF) once you use a license key, you can't use it again... so the idea is to back up the ENTIRE THING so you can copy it back over then re-merge the registry files.

Not really true. Microsoft stuff can be reinstalled. I have had to numerous times. Worst case scenario is a CS call to India.

Bryan, I saw a really intriguing drive by cavalry. It was expandable with Sata. It holds two hot-swappable sata drives at a time.

Not the prettiest thing, but may be the most expandable storage solution I have seen.

Looks perfect for a media fiend who burns through drive space.

Yes, it can be reinstalled, but you need a new product key each time.
Especially Microsoft Office.

I back up the whole drive. So if my drive fails, put in a new one, and run a restore and I'm back to normal.

Yeah, not the prettiest thing, but it is expandable and shouldn't have cooling issues. (When I used fast externals they bedeviled them.)

And to NoMoreSilence. You are doing it wrong, because what you are saying is just not true...

Product key is for one Computer, not one installation.
Example:I installed Office 2003 (A few years ago) it became screwy, so I re-installed it, used the same product key, worked perfectly.

Depends on the license agreement. Generally Microsoft products are generally like that, though.

Although activating Windows can often be a pain if it complains about a used key (but you've done a format or something). Sometimes it's just easier to use a pirated version (but still have an official copy. :P).
