I enjoy a cut capo, you can do some really cool stuff. I like using DADGAD with cut capo on the 7th fret. You can do some really cool fingerpicking things

I just use mine for the trad capoing stuff.

90% of what I do is strumming so it makes a quick key change easy.

I have a Kyser in each case & when I get a new instrument, I gat a new Kyser.

BUT

I've just discovered an ripoff from eBay Land. only £5 rather than £20.........

it works fine so far.

Dogfood you look pretty young in your avatar but for us older guys it sometimes gets difficult to chord the same way we did when we were younger. The capo helps me in that aspect. I seldom play a set without my capo. It does make some of the other musicians angry though. I don't really know any "tricks" using capos. Sorry. But like burningtree says, "Capos are awesome".

I own 3 or 4 capos, but rarely ever use them. Maybe for recording, where I want to get a high-strung guitar sound, but that's it.

I own a couple of capos. No tricks here. I use it about 15% of the time if I'm playing acoustic, and about zero percent of the time for electric.

you're missing out, there's some cool applications of capos on electric, especially a lead guitarist. You can do cool arpeggiation, different chord voicings, finger-picking, and don't forget about harmonics!
