Converting .vob files

So I've got a burned DVD of a musical I was in I'd like to edit in Windows Movie Maker to eventually post on Youtube. However, the DVD is in .vob format, a file type I've never seen before. Windows calls it a "VLC media player file", ostensibly because that's my main media player. How would one go about converting a .vob into a format compatible with WMM?

Have you tried Handbrake? It's pretty good at converting videos.

It's fabulous.
It's also excellent for buttering toast.

You can use Power Video Converter. It's pretty amazing and works fairly well at converting all formats and files. Plus it allows the largest possible output sizes that I know of unless you want to pay HUGE bucks for a high-capacity converter...

AutoGK is pretty nifty. It converts to AVI.

What are the max parameters though? Like, can you keep a 1280 width? or does it shrink to 790? Just wondering, been looking for one that does full-rez converts.

There does seem to be an option to control output width.
