Laptop trouble

I fell asleep with my mom's older dell inspiron 8200 laying on my legs and dropped it. I woke up in enough time to catch it so that only one corner bumped the bumped the ground. Anyways, now the touchpad doesn't work and the cursor drifts off the screen. The direction and speed the cursor goes away at are not consistent and it doesn't always do it, (this happened a few hours ago) but when it does I think you have to restart it to get it to stop from being pulled off the screen.

My laptop has fallen out of a van a few times onto the pavement. It still works perfectly fine.

Sorry, I don't know anything about how to fix a touchpad.... Best of luck!

Get a new touchpad.
Or use a wireless usb mouse and disable the touchpad.
that can work as well.
Either that or you can take it into a computer technician. I'm not sure about fixing the touchpad, though. May be better off buying a new laptop.

A new laptop because the touchpad is broken. You are funny
Just get a USB mouse if you can't fix the problem.
use the mouse on the palm rests of the laptop, next to the trackpad.

Yeah, she was using a usb mouse earlier. I went to control panel > hardware > mouse and clicked on all the tabs, can't find a way to turn the touchpad off. From what I read it can be done in bios but I have no idea what that is.

boot the computer. before windows starts, hit a key (usually esc, del, or one of the 'f' keys), look through there. It'll be keyboard only navigation, though.
