| Bands that you're not sure if they're Christian or Secular... If you're not sure if a band is Christian or Secular, (basically if they're one of those bands that could go either way) go ahead and post them here and I'll try my best to place them into one category or the other.

| Mastodon
Wolfmother
Animal Collective
He is Legend
Amon Amarth
Slayer (srsly. I've heard rumors that hey are just posers and that they attend mass every Sunday)
Arsis
Black Dahlia Murder
(more to come)
None of these bands really have Christian themed lyrics. I'm not so much interested in if they are a "Christian band" as much as I'm interested if their members are Christians. I was going to do this myself, but since you volunteered....

| I seem to remember reading that at least one member of Slayer is Catholic.
Also, you have to remember that there's a whole image thing that some metal bands feel the need to maintain. Iron Maiden have songs dealing with Satanism and the like, but they also have songs about ancient naval battles, settlers battling Native Americans, WWII fighter plane battles, mythology and so on. A quick skimming of Wikipedia contains several quotes saying something to the effect of "We find this subject matter interesting, so we're going to write lyrics about it".
I'm pretty sure similar discussions have occurred numerous times here, and in the end, we should leave judgment up to God.

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal". |

| Does this thread really need to exist? Why would we feel the need to categorize these bands in this way? |

| Yeah, it's just a fire and brimstone argument waiting to happen.
