Twitter for Tour Promotion?

Hey guys! I'm doing some promotional work for a tour and I'm looking for innovative ways to use Twitter to promote the tour. I'm thinking "Retweet to win tickets" giveaways or "band trivia for tickets" or other similar themes. Not stuck on ticket giveaways, that's just the obvious idea that comes to mind.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

this is way more complicated than I care to get... but I found this on Google. Creative stuff like this is what I'm trying to brainstorm...

"Starting on 6/26 and continuing every day of the Warped Tour, battle Black Tide in Tap Tap Revenge immediately after their set for a chance to win signed band gear! Follow the band on twitter @BlackTideMusic for contest updates.

Contest Rules: Download Tap Tap Revenge on your iPhone or iPod Touch now and start practicing. Be sure to bring your iPhone or iPod touch to the show so you can start playing as soon as the band tells you to. Black Tide will also send out a tweet immediately after every set, alerting fans at home to start playing the battle. When this happens, load up Tap Tap Revenge 2 and simply click on the feed button on the home page and then select the Battles icon at the top. The Black Tide battle will be the first one listed for one hour. The player with the top score after that hour will win band gear!"

Retweet for tickets is the easiest and most obvious way to use it.

I'm wondering if there's a way to reward retweets which has instant or guaranteed gratification. Like everyone who retweets in a given day is mentioned in a tweet by the band that night. Or anyone who retweets gets to hang out with the band after the show in their town (or whatever makes more sense than that).

I know I'm not inclined to retweet something simply for the CHANCE to win, but I'll retweet if I definitely get something.

Twitter is actually being used pretty well by musicians lately. Here are a few ways I've seen it used:

Typical tour updates and keeping the fans updated on day-to-day stuff.

Free tickets to the first person that RT or direct messages.

Giving out hints to a location and first person to meet someone gets a free ticket to the show or CD or similar.

Free MP3's for RT, replies or the like.

^Yup.

I'd say it's a great outlet. Facebook is being used in a similar manner as well.

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

Winter Jam does a few things on twitter, they'll say:
"2 tickets at will call under the name Mike D, first one there gets 'em"

Obviously, you'll have to tell will call that you're doing this...
