Broadening my musical tastes...

So I'm looking for some new bands to broaden my tastes. Feel free to suggest bands of any genre in fact. Doesn't really matter for me. The only type of music I don't listen to casually is worship...so please don't suggest any Casting Crowns or Third Day.

You need to listen to country music. Trace Atkins, Toby Keith, Big & Rich. Thats it.

After you listen to those guys you will. Especially faster "country-rock" songs will help you get in to the other ones.

How about mewithoutyou? Alternative and extremely poetic.

Subseven, Staple, Pedro The Lion, As Cities Burn, and mewithoutYou

Subseven, Pedro The Lion, and mewithoutYou particularly, because I think they may have a more different sound than what you usually listen to. I guess Subseven isn't that far from your stuff, but they are not very known and since they were an asset in my life concerning music, I like to recommend them. Really under appreciated.

Alright, what albums would you recommend from each? And just tell me for The Classic Crime and Copeland. I already have Anberlin and Emery's discographies :P

What albums would you recommend from each? I tried getting into mewithoutYou, but I think I may have listened to the wrong album to get a feel of their sound. Is their new one worth it? And I wanna get the time to listen to Hell Or High Water by As Cities Burn. Subseven is good though too. I should get their CD when I remember.

My favourite Copeland Album is 'You Are My Sunshine', but I would also recommend their much earlier 'Beneath Medicine Tree'. They have changed a fair bit over the years so the two albums are quite different. For The Classic Crime its 'The Silver Cord'. If you only listen to one of the two I would say listen to Copeland.

Alright! I'll get on that as soon as I can.

Subseven - either the EP or the full length. Probably the full length, Free To conquer I guess.
Staple - Of Truth and Reconciliation is my favourite. I'm not digging the new stuff from them.
mewithoutYou - I got into them with the new album, but it's not really the classic mewithoutYou sound. He does more sing/talk on the new one, the rest of their albums are more yell/talk.
It's his voice that deters people or attracts people. Brother Sister is a well respected on by a lot of people. The new one is called It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All A Dream! It's Alright. I really love that album. They seem to be a band that has to grow on most people, so I'd even give their old stuff a chance again even though you didn't like it much at first.

As Cities Burn - Hmm, do you have anything from them? Because their first album "Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest" is a screamo album (and my favourite screamo album, BTW). Then their next two are completely different (the lead singer quit and his brother took over vocals). I prefer the new stuff anyway. I'd recommend Hell Or High Water, like you had mentioned. But if you end up picking up that record, try to make sure it's the version with the song "Gates" at the end of it, which may only be the iTunes version, but it's worth it, that might just be their best song.

Alright. I've listened to that Subseven album before. Great stuff. I'll listen to it some more. As for Staple, I'll check that one out.

And yeah, I think Brother, Sister was the album I listened to by mewithoutYou. I'm gonna check out their newer album since it sounds more chill. I didn't like Aaron's yelling voice from previous records, so maybe that's why I could never get into them? I've heard some songs from the new one. Singing sounds better for me.

And for As Cities Burn, yeah I have Come Now, Sleep. Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest is a good album I've heard, but I'm trying to stay away from new screamo for a while since I listen to it way too much. Alright, I'll check out Hell Or High Water. It's a really unique sound from what I've heard.

I'm also into Sherwood at the moment. Listening to them for the first time and digging them a lot. Also, how about He Is Legend? Is It Hates You a good album? I've listened to two songs on their myspace from it, and it sounds great.

He Is Legend is incredible. Haven't heard the new record yet, but I have Suck Out The Poison, and that is a top notch record. It's so solid, all the way through. I've heard good things about the new record, that it's really catchy.
Their old stuff is kind of black metalish, vocally anyway. Suck Out The Poison was a new page for them, more straight heavy southern stuff and the vocalist doesn't do much screaming (but when he does, it's a treat, he has an excellent raspy scream).
They aren't a Christian band anymore, as far as I've heard I don't know if that matters or not.

Alright. I've liked what I heard on the new one. Ironically enough, the only one I've never listened to is Suck Out The Poison. I'll have to check it out.

And nah, they aren't Christian anymore haha. Not sure if they ever really were; they were just signed to Solid State I think. But anyways, they're good haha.

Any more people willing to recommend stuff?

Hmm. I may need to try listening to this album. I've only ever heard good things about mewithouYou, but I just can't get into the yell/talk vocals.

What are some good Christian experimental bands? Indie bands as well? The genres seem to be lacking there for me...
