| Gilbert Arenas OK, ya'll probably already know, but here's a link if you haven't been following. Gilbert Arenas pleads guilty to felony - washingtonpost.com Normally I'm as much as a throw the book at em kind of guy as anyone, but in this case I honestly think it would be a miscarriage of justice if this guy does any real time in jail. I know he committed at least on felony, but really, what he did was far more stupid than actually dangerous.
What say you? |

That being said, I have heard more in the last hour or so that has me thinking maybe I was a little hasty in my opening statement. There are reports that he was threatening another team mate. At first this was presented as "he was joking", but some people seem to think maybe there was some seriousness to his "joking". Also, I've since heard that he had another gun charge 6 or 7 years ago. So if there's a pattern of irresponsibility with guns that is different too. |

He also had a similar charge a few years ago where he got let off with a warning. I believe he is past the warning the stage. I don't feel that anyone is above the law. Certainly not NBA players who think they should be allowed to do whatever, whenever they want. I'm not sure I agree that he should be incarcerated, but I do believe he should not be allowed to play in the NBA, especially if he cannot control himself when it comes to guns. |

Arenas broke the law in an area of the country that has very strict gun laws. Possessing a gun without a license is a pretty serious crime, as Plaxico Burress and Lil Wayne have recently found out. I would be surprised if he didn't do at least a little bit of jail time. |

But a gun, does not on it's own, constitute dangerous.
And I hear today he and the other player have been suspended for the remainder of the season. |

| Point is, the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement bans all guns at Team Facilities, for this exact reason. He broke an expressed rule and will miss all season for it. |

They probably should be a little more conscious of their actions, but it rarely works like that.
