Amp restructuring.......

so say you had a 100w Peavey keyboard amp.......

that you played bass through.....

like this......

but the preamp section died.

ah well, so you scour eBay for a bass head that could be used with the still perfectly working speakers.......

a piezo horn and an 18" monster

you dare to search Trace Elliot.......

and you find a 715SMC 150w "head" advertised.......

now the 715SMC is not and has never been a head. it's a combo......

but this one was the amp section which had lost it's combo, just a bare chassis......

which cost me £50!!

an hour introducing it to a pine table that had languished in the back of your school store for 5 years......

and......

tahdah!!!

once the electronics section is removed from the peavey and the "new" head is parked on top.......

unvarnished as yet, and I still need to put a strap handle on top.

I think I'll need to go to the dentist......... this combination has shaken a few fillings loose!!

Very nice work. Are you going to cover that enclosure at all?

I would cut the top of the cabinet off and place the head flush with the cabinet. Then integrate the two of them and re-tolex. It would be a bit of work but totally worth the time.. It might even be worth gutting the cab and building a whole new enclosure that would house both the head and speakers.

That's a bass that he built.
