| Here, I made this real fast. This is what your barre chords should be sounding like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipJ_D2tRtPA (note: just uploaded, so it may not work yet)
If your guitar is in tune, then you have really bad intonation problems, or you're pressing the strings down far too tight. |

| Kentl, when I was learning how to use my tuner, I had "green" too. But I wasn't tuning an E to an E. I was tuning it to F, etc. You have to also pay attention that you are tuning the right string to the right note. My tuner allows for optional tunings, which I didn't realize at first. |

| When you pressed lighter, it got a LOT better. Hear the difference? When you are pushing too hard, you push the strings out of tune. You want just enough pressure to have the strings ring out. |

| I personally don't like a barred C just because of the form change. I think (in general) a lot of open chords simply sound better because of where the notes, particularly the thirds, are. For example, with the open C, you have a third on the D string, whereas with the barred C, there isn't a third other than the one on the B.

i dont like the Bared sound at all | You have to learn to play the stuff you don't like because that's how you get better. It's all about mastering all of the stuff that makes you uncomfortable. That's just the way the world, and music, works. Barred chords take some time to master.
I think you're a wee bit out of tune. It could be intonation, or it could be your trem, or you're bending the strings, or you're just out of tune. It's not a huge thing. Are you in tune at the 12th fret?
Keep up the good work. Practice with clean tones and go for timing and precision over speed. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. |
