saw it last night, was actually impressed at how close to the main storyline it kept. where it derailed from the book, it seemed to build on existing story points rather than just add or make up stupid crap for no real purpose. that was nice.

SPOILER ALERT
I thought the scenes on the destruction of the locket was very well done. yeah it was portrayed that they were nude and intimate, a slight departure from the book but it sort of worked. and by departure, I mean that it wasn't specified if they were clothed or not in the book, though it certainly did imply that they were in some way attracted / intimate.

and for some reason, this really helped me better understand the earlier scene where Harry unwittingly destroyed Voldy / Malfoy's wand. seeing things in perspective - at how desperate a horcrux is to avoid being destroyed - somehow helped me deal with this somewhat confusing plot point.

I thought the switch in movie style for the tale of the three brothers was very well done - mashed the "children's tale" with the darkness of the tale in general and the overall darkness of the film. well done.

overall it felt somewhat rushed - and yet somehow still caught the feeling of ambling despair that I got from the book. they are kind of wandering and have no idea what to do, and yet the movie kept a good pace. that kind of amazes me still, I was expecting either nonstop action or a long boring wandering film. I kind of got the best of both.

I don't fully understand why the scene of Harry / Hermione dancing in the tent was in there, didn't do much for the plot and could have been better spent on other plot points or simply cut altogether. Ron wasn't even present - if anything it could have built some sexual tension that fueled Ron's despair and built the Kill The Locket scene further. but with no one else present, it was kind of pointless.

Besides, Daniel Radcliffe doesn't even look good naked.

I thought they did a pretty good job with what is essentially the slow-moving half of the story; I felt like
the Dobby death scene
was somewhat lacking in emotional punch, but overall I felt entertained and satisfied as one who read the source material long before seeing the movie. I expect volume II will be so action-packed that your brain hurts 3/4 of the way through.

I was also glad to see that someone took Emma Watson aside at some point and taught her to act.

Meh, he's alright.

I really enjoyed this movie. I havn't read the books yet, but I've fallen in love with these movies. Enough that I've gotten emotionally invested in the story. I really liked this movie, the overall flow, story telling, acting, it all felt good to me.

As an aside, does anyone know what the song was during the dance scene in the tent?

*edit*

Nevermind. Yahoo Answers days its O Children by Nick Cave.
