I'd guess the sustain is the tone.

The Big Muff has actually always had: Volume, Sustain, and Tone. I'd guess that on the POD, the gain is the volume, the drive is the sustain, and the tone is the tone.

Seems easy to find out. Adjust and listen.

ok i really need help. new subject though.

on my pod my ac30 model patch thingy i have a big muff with drive at 70, gain at 50, and tone at 50-100. it sounds good.

but lately, when i use a big muff on anything else it sounds crappy. i tried it on a fender twin, and now im building a jack white style tone on an orange model, and it sounds good till i turn on the big muff. the problem with it is it sounds "warbly" like really warbly and odd sounding

Maybe try a different distortion pedal? There are plenty to mess with, unless you are really trying to go for that big muff sound (I haven't listened to jack white so I guess I don't really know if that is "essential" to his sound or not).

very essential haha. and i use the big muff on my main channel for distortion 9an ac30 model) and it sounds great.

i dont know why its doing this know. i've tried it with multiple amps and now the only one it sounds good with is the ac30

I would suggest just keep messing around with it until you can get it right, but maybe even though he uses the specific amp you are trying to get the sound with, maybe try another one? If it doesn't sound good with the current amp switching the amp could possibly turn up with good results.

Then again I never really used the big muff when I had a PODxtlive so maybe the buff mig just doesn't sound good with many of the amps.

ok but you would think one of the most popular fuzz pedals would work with the majority of amps instead of the minority

But then again it isn't the real pedal nor the real amps, so it's possible on the PODxtlive they just don't gel. But I bet with just more time spent getting it right you'll be able to get a good result.

Everything haha. Anything from the amp and it's EQ to the "mic" to the controls on the pedals. There is quite a bit to adjust

Try different pedals, try different amps.

Don't rely on what you "know about Big Muffs" or "know about (amp X)" but use your ears.

I honestly couldn't tell you as I didn't use it enough to remember...

like rainer said, don't be so tied down to what you think should sound good. Try different things and use your ears
