This might sound dumb, but only go on the computer when you have a true purpose to go on it. Don't go on it without any true reason of accomplishing something, because from my personal experiences that can end up in a lot of time wasted.

Is this a problem because you waste a lot of time on the computer or because you don't have enough time to do all the things on the computer you want?

I think that you're aware of the problem is a good thing, especially if you're coming to this conclusion by yourself as that would show some maturity. There have been some good advise on here. I'm not sure I agree with those that say "make it more difficult", like getting rid of your favorites. In my view, streamlining things is good. If I can get to the places I want to go quickly and not waste time searching or typing in addresses, that's good. The advise I've liked the best is to be purposeful. Identify some things on the internet that you think are worthwhile and then set aside X amount of time to enjoy those things. I also agree with the poster that mentioned cleaning the house, i.e. developing better habits. Good luck.

Pretty much said it right. Its really just practicing good self-discipline after that. I have some good bible verses for that if you'd like.

Haha, you have no idea how few that is..... (i once went through a 21 (3 week) day period where I averaged 65 posts... PER DAY)

Just like with dieting, exercising, saving money, doing the speed limit, or reading more, the ability to do these kinds of self-discipline activities is hinged on emotions. Until you really WANT to do it, you aren't going to. I don't really have any advice on how to WANT to do the right things, but that is just what I think you should be shooting for. It's worked for me, for the most part.

I've spent less time on CGR since it started logging me out automatically, and less time on CGR means less time on internet.

Really, I've discovered the key to daily time management is realizing how much you can get done in a brief time. I went through a phase were I thought "Oh, twenty minutes, there's no way I can do anything productive in twenty minutes. I might as well get online and waste time before I go to work." Now, I realize I can clean the kitchen in ten minutes, and have time to brush the dog before I leave.

why not ask God to help ya with it? if he's pressing on your heart that its not what you ought to be doing he will provide an escape route for you.

and if it isn't... then i'd ask "what is the reason for me to keep off of this box?"
