Hulu lets you access video from any standard web browser (chrome, firefox, safari, opera, etc), but you can't access the video from Boxee. Hulu blocked Boxee from accessing their video. But if you were to quit Boxee, and open up that exact same video in Chrome, it would work fine. Does Hulu not want accessing TV ON their TV? Isn't the point of Hulu to watch TV on your terms? Absolutely ridiculous that they blocked Boxee. They also blocked a Mozilla based browser that was designed for TVs. Stupid.
I would be very careful about pointing fingers. If it looks stupid to you, there's probably more to the story than, "Hulu doesn't want me to watch tv on my tv."

Apologies, but I should have said the network execs instead of Hulu there, I was in a hurry.
I'm aware that it's probably deeper than that with copyright and whatnot, but I still think it's stupid.

This is the main reason I wanted HDMI on my laptop.

I don't have an HDMI cable long enough from my couch to the TV, and no room for a laptop on my TV stand...
My DVR is an adequate substitute.

The story with Hulu and Boxee and basically the reason there is no Hulu set top box (yet) is with Hulu's licenses with content providers. The streaming licenses don't allow for Hulu to be accessed via anything but a standard web browser. I suspect this will change at some point (probably somewhat soon since we're seeing a lot more alternate video devices lately), but that's the reason as I'm aware of it for now.

When are these radical things coming to Canada? Hulu doesn't let us watch, and I'm sure TIVO exists here, but I don't know a single person with it...
