| a complete surprise for me, as I didn't care much for their other stuff before listening to this CD. I rarely give anything a ten ever, making this one that much more remarkable.
I found this album to be great on so many levels. I found the album achieved greatness almost at ease - and it's this ease that makes it great. the album covers a lot of musical ground, from driving rock to slow introspectiveness. stylistically, there is a lot of ground covered as well. I can't avoid comparisons to older U2, the 77s, and even Prayer Chain. the guitar work is dumbed down, less technically riff-driven as most modern music. I found this actually refreshing, didn't have to "figure it all out" and could just enjoy it. great songwriting, versus wow-me-please riff-driven music.
for me, this album is refreshing in its complex simplicity. I gave it a ten. |
