I don't think it was that necessary, unless they think they can make something of him.
26, but yeah. They're just adding another arm at this point. The rotation will still be Romero/Litsch/Richmond/Marcum/Purcey, with McGowan pushing someone out when he's finally healthy.

EDIT:

I thought this was a bigger deal.

So rumor has it that the Tigers may be acquiring Johnny Damon to something of a one-year deal. They've had a pretty strange off season by my standards, such as not resigning Fernando Rodney but instead getting Jose Valverde. Anyways, I have said this many times before and I will say it again, I am extremely excited for the Mariners upcoming season.

I SHUN ALL DISBELIEVERS!!!!!!! just kidding..sort of

Anyways, all the contracts they have made in the past were kind of ridiculous, Carlos Silva (???), Adri-roid Beltre, and Richie Sexson who wasn't that bad. They have actually acquired guys who have decent track records, and not just one year phenoms.

If you mean Jamie Moyer, he's still around, but he's with Philly now. 47 years old.

So the Tigers signed Johnny Damon yesturday to a one year deal. Another strange move regarding their salary issue but I like it a lot. If he can get on base like he did last year it was a great move, because Granderson was awfully inconsistent at the leadoff spot. The only thing I'm a little concerned about is their outfield, with Maggs in right, Damon in center, and who knows in left, its a little shaky as far as defensively goes. But it was a good move still, I think.

Yeah that's a little scary. For all his shortcomings, Vernon Wells still provides great defense for the Jays. Center field is very important defensively, generally considered only less important than shortstop and catcher.

Anyone been keeping up with the spring training/exhibition games? I've watched a bit, but it's just not the same when it doesn't really mean anything.
I'm getting excited for opening day, when is it?

Wow, i'm shocked that Ron Washington failed a drug test. Never saw him to be a coke user, he's one of my favourite managers in the league.

Why do managers have to take drug tests? HGH isn't gonna make your team better...

I hate to break it to you pal, but you need to take drug tests to work at Walmart. Nobody wants to hire a drugee! Especially when you are plunking down the kind of cash that these guys get paid.

Anyways. The Red Sox are looking good this year. Of course they looked good last year... I'm real excited about Lackey though. He is the man.

Really? I've never heard of anyone here having to undergo a drug test to get a job - maybe it's a States thing?

Lackey is a great pitcher. Between him, Lester, and Beckett, the BoSox should have great pitching this year.
