Turns out, they were no advantages over loud or soft and they don't do much more than singing a regular octave other than loosen you up a bit. At least with us.

For me, lip bubbles are useful because they force me to always use enough air and I automatically relax when I do them. It mostly seems to help me have better technique rather than the bubbles themselves actually helping in some way.
