| I agree with nolidad in pointing to Revelation. Full preterism isn't only about the return of Christ or the resurrection, but also about the other prophecies in Revelation, and I don't see anything in 2 Tim to imply Hymenaeus and Philetus were aware of Revelation (which, on the Preterist view, must have been written by this time, since the Pastorals are the latest of Paul's writings, and a Preterist view requires the dating of Revelation before the destruction of Jerusalem). I think Paul's warning militates against Full Preterism, since a Full Preterist believes the Resurrection has occurred. But there's no indication here that the false teachers believe that the Second Coming has happened. I don't think we can assume that Hymenaeus and Philetus were working with a full New Testament or had worked out a consistent eschatology just because, in later times, the Full Preterists have attempted to do so.
