The mean parent

I hate having to be the mean parent, but we don't need another pet. My daughter won an iguana at the carnival last night. Seriously, who gives away live animals if you can toss your penny in the green jar? What kind of carnival is this? We already have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 gerbils, and some fish. Do we really need a reptile running around the house?

For sale or trade -- one medium size iguana. Will take cash or gear.

My vote is no pets at all, so...

That's not my question. My question is who gives away an Iguana?

My duaghter asked us for a chihauhau puppy. I kept saying NO. She wanted to keep it in the house. I kept saying NO. She finally confessed that she had been keeping a puppy in her bedroom for three weeks. I still protested but did allow the pup to stay. She named it Lyla Bee. After a couple of months she left the pup with her mother and me one afternoon to go on a date with her boyfriend. She never returned as she had been the victim of a drunken driver and the negligence of her boyfriend. She was killed in an automobile accident that night.

I never liked pets. Now I am proud owner of FOUR dogs. I wouldn't take anything for Lyla Bee.

I say let her have the iguana.

At least it's easier to spell than chiwahyer.

I need something to do chores...

How about you keep the iguana, and I'll trade you a bass for the kid?

I had to house sit for a science teacher one summer in college. He had two snakes and an iguana, which I had to feed. The iguana was much creepier to me than the snakes, and it ate vegetables. I had to buy baby mice for the snakes to eat.

Can you eat it? Probably, except that reptiles often have parasites.

Will it taste like chicken? Probably. Gator, snake, and frog legs do.

I say set it free in the woods somewhere.
