Wait... I think you forgot what we were talking about.

You said: I guess I am just returning the kind of fire that Reagan, and Bush 2 put up with

So I said: Why is it necessary to "return fire"?

Then you said: Well thats becoemt h eway politics is done in america today on teh national level for the vast majority

Leading me to lament the demise of freedom of thought.

At what point were we talking about the way politics is run out of Washington?

As someone else said, fight fire with fire and all you end up with is more fire...

I really don't care who said it or what side they are on it's a stupid quote on it's own merrit.

If you don't endorse it then why did you quote it in your post as justification for doing what you're doing?

I made no innuendo at all. I made a direct accusation. When corrected that it was a bad example, I adjusted my claim.

I'm snipping the rest of your post because it seems to be you beating the dead horse of an already fixed statement. It seems like another attempt to destract and I will not indulge it.

Beck remains a demagogue, his rhetoric remains dishonest and dangerous. Your excuses and attempts to distract from those facts not withstanding.

I do think it's relly funny that you don't know what slander is though.

So 'returning fire' is justified because everyone else is doing it? You feel compelled to conform to what the vast majority is participating in? Why? Why is it that since it is "the way it is," we choose to participate? That sort of thinking is quite simply retarded. How is that possibly productive in any way?
Actually I build up to returning flame balls. I just was defending Beck and his comments by citinig the misuse of his qoutes and the twisting out of context many of his commetns by links people put up (being as I watched the shows the links came from) then after a while you get tired and return fire. That is a "normal" response.

And how productive is it to call Beck a fear monger, liar, and hate monger when all that people can throw up for the defense of their accusations is qoutes ripped out of context? Does he present himself brashly? Sure! Does he spend day after day after day presenting evidence to back up his claims? Yeah he sure does. Does the left go crazy when they get shoved back at them what they dish out? Almost unanimously! They can hurl their insults, make their asccusations and when you fire back it then becomes a crime to do the same. Well like the old saying goes- if you can't stand the heat dont go into the kitchen.

He was falsely accused of being the founder of the birther movement on this thread- when he is not even a birther!

Palin was accussed of having her book be a best seller due to the publisher buying a million copies! (never mind trhe fact that amazon.com had almost 3/4 million preordered copies paid for before the book was released)

Beck said he thought Obama didn't like white people on an interview and the world is in a tizzy. Reid called Pres. Bush far worse (as did Kerry, Pelosi et al) but that is okay. What he said was wrong and inappropriate.

Quote:
Leading me to lament the demise of freedom of thought.
Well let me ask you do you lament the lefts incesant tirade against conservatives?

Beck speaks passionately and with information about things he sees as dangers to this country. In response liberal politicos take pot shots at him from teh house and senate floor! He mispells a word and it becomes a u-tube event.

some past examples:

Bush gave an $600/adult tax rebate and teh libs throw up a press conference with them holdiong up a muffler saying his "gift" was in essence a joke, tehn those same politicos swooning over Obama reducing withholding fed taxes by $400 over a year (though not reducing their tax liability as Bush did) saying how wonderful that gift was.

Bush wanted to reduce the growtrh of medicare by about 10 billion dollars in one year (not cut the program but reduce the amount it would grow by that amount) and he is castigated for wanting to hurt the elderly--Now the Reid/pelosi/Obama cabal wants to actually cut medicare itself by 1/2 trillion dollars and that should be without blame.

Bush was called as catering to big business by th eleft and yet that same left has gone to bed with GE, PHRMA, SEIU, th elawyers, the AMA, and the hospital assoc. to get this healt care passed by giving them all sorts of goodies (oh I forgot AARP). That is why the right fires back.

Read this thread from teh beginning- and see that I just defended Beck by facts and there was a barrage of name calling and twisted qoutes from him as well. Then after about page 6 I started returning the same kind of rhetoric. Where was your lament about the loss fo freedom of thought when it was only others lobbing flame balls.

Actually I am using a time tested bible method of debating: Proverbs 26:

Quote:
4Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

5Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
When after 4-5 pages of putting up defense and showing where others are qouting people out of context and they still persist in just spewing flame balls- you shoot back.

I will not deny Beck is controverisal, but his books are so enormously referenced (and he even puts an abundance of websites not just other books) He brings on PHD,s in their fields, brings up rebuttal evidence, cites statistic after statistic, researches, qoutes the people themselves(caution: the qoutes citing Obama as a racist were never on Beck or even mentioned by Beck-save one). So his enormous and continued popularity is not because of a bunch of mind numbed zombies waling in lock step, but because people see what he cites, checks it out (not all but most) and realizes he is raising warnings about bad things to come.

Who else do you see on TV or hear in radio warnign folks about teh coming fiscal nightmare because of the enormity of the feds debt.
Who else do you hear warning about the long term reduction in living standards because of the debt.
Who else warned about the number of radical leftists who want to erode freedom in this nation by curtailing rights in the name of "social justice"

Beck was the first to warn that this health care bill would ruin the nation as it will. The CBO is givng numbers fed to it by REid and his staff, but those are not real numbers. He is a strong advocate for health care reforn and even proposed a basic outline on his show. Do you agree that people should start paying for health care immediately and wait 3-4 years before being able to use it? Beck warned about it and it is in it he bill now poised to pass teh Senate. He was called a liar because he said this bill would produce govt. "death panels" because the money won't be there and the govt. under Obama and his adviser Holdren believe in using the whole lives system which says elderly should be withheld care because they are less productive and have lived a full life already if there are shortages (which trhere willb e- medicare is already starting to ration care because funds are drying up too fast.)

Teh fed is intruding in placers it has no authority to intrude on legally and he is raising an alrm about it! See when you watch multiple episodes of Beck you see the bigger picture he explains
and realize he is right! It is not the popular route- but it is the route that was established and suppossed to be upheld by our politicians (both sides) and routinely ignored.

Sorry for the long post- believe it or not I summarized alot of areas here. Little catch phrases and one liners do not fully expound on th eissues of why Beck is so loved and hated by millions on both sides. But he does reflect the continued vast polarization going on in this nation. Fewer and fewer are middle of the roaders(which is actually good because they sustain the greatest casualties in war) More and more this nation is splitting betwen left and right, politically, fiscally, socially, spiritually, and morally.

Because the passion seems insincere when he misspells a word while constructing an acrostic. But the main reason is because it's just funny. Glenn Beck is not a victim. Look at his ratings.

I don't want to post too much off topic anymore, but I did want to say I just showed you that that is a misinterpretation of that passage of scripture and you're doing it again...

What did she do as govenor that you feel was a good act? I know she supported thebridge to nowhere, supported the roads to the bridge even after the bridge was cancelled, and supported paying out tax money to citizens in wealth redistribution, and did nothing to stop Alaska's dependance on federal bailouts.

I do not know if your facts are accurate or not. I have not looked deeply into the matter.

I was basically saying that she served her term as mayor without quitting.

I never heard Beck accuse O of wanting America to fail or of being a racist.

Beck shows Obama saying that to understand Obama, see the people Obama hangs around with. Beck took O up on that and checked into some of those people. That is where Beck found the communist and such. I think it is a quote from Obama's book where O says that he purposely sought out marxists to be with. Those who wanted to sterilize men with drinking water and give animals the right to sue people, their ideas are written down for people to see any time they want to.

*Steps in to see if Nolidad actually answered any questions that have been asked...
*Sees the same rhetoric being thrown around without addressing anything
*Steps out again... sigh

I think the question about Palin/Beck being a potential team for the '12 election has been fully answered. I think we can all agree it's not something that will ever happen. It's now a question of if you like them and why/why not.

While I agree that Beck takes stuff to far and he can be over dramatic he really is right about a LOT of stuff.

Cf.: McCarthyism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guilt by association has a long and distinguished career. Beck's just engaging it more explicitly than others. Obama is a Communist because an advisor once hung out with communists. Is it 1951 again or what?

The only significant difference between Beck and McCarthy is that Beck makes more money than the junior senator from Wisconsin.
