Skype

Since I've been working from home more now than in the past, I've decided to give Skype a try. I don't want to use my cell phone minutes for calls for meetings. I pay $3 a month and I have unlimited calling to the US & Canada. I'm also considering getting a Online Number so people can call me from land lines.

Who else here uses Skype? What do you like or don't like about it?

I use the free video chat, along with the im service to talk with my friends, I like it very much, and it works quite well for a free system

It's great because it works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. So I can pretty much talk to most anyone I know.

I love Skype, but it's not so helpful outside the US and Canada; costs too much for me. I can still use the video and computer-to-computer chats for free, but call prices aren't the best. I started using MagicJack for going outside North America and definitely recommend it for computer-to-phone calling.

I have used it in the past, but it was impractical for me. That was a couple years ago, so I don't have any current experience with it.

Very cool. My new computer has Bluetooth, so I might have to look into that. How well does it work?

Google did acquire Skype competitor Gizmo5, Exclusive: Google Has Acquired Gizmo5 , so You can probably safely expect some sort of VOIP coming to GVoice.
