| Wireless Mics... Our church is needing to buy a couple of wireless mics for our preachers. They will be lavalier style because they like the freedom of movement. Since it's been years since I've last looked at buying PA gear, what's everyone liking these days? Our current mics are Nadys and the tend to cut out and generally aren't what I'd call user friendly. I'm not discounting that a major portion of the problem is our sound room staff but that's not an issue I have any control over nor do I want to control. There's nothing like a well-respected preacher coming in and having to fumble and fuss with his mic for a couple of minutes before starting to deliver his sermon.
Suggestions? |

I'm a big fan of Senheisser products, I'm sure they have something similar. My church has an Audio-Technica set, and I'm not that impressed with it personally. The big thing I've found is to make sure the gain is setup properly. I've seen too many people turn the gain on the belt-pack all the way up and then wonder why it sounds like crap. Hmmm, try clipping, that might be the best word to describe it, lol. It sounds really bad when the pastor makes a huge enthusiastic comment, and it clips cause he's speaking too loud for the gain setting.

| Over the ears aren't happening. Our preachers prefer lavaliers and they're not going to change.
I'd really like to find a system that would allow multiple wireless packs to run simultaneously.
What we really need to do is have a live sound company come in and hook us up with a new board, a snake, proper monitors, and some wireless. Yeah, like that'll ever happen. |

You may be able to sell them on them with one or many different approaches.
Over the Ear mics keep the mic in the same position at all times, so volume doesn't change with the turning of the speakers head, increasing intellegibility. They are very close to the sound source, so gain before feedback is excellent.
Multiple packs should be no problem for any mid-priced and higher system from Shure, EV, Audio Technica, or Sennheiser. |

You get a hugely more consistent sound, because the mic is constantly in the same place
