I have a 2004 F-150, with the 4.6 and i had an old battery and my dash would flicker and my needles for speedo and tach wouldn't move after a cold start but they would twitch and my trip odometer would reset. then when i changed it my headlights went brighter and the dash was fixed, certainly a new battery with a warranty would be worth it even if it was the alternator, and the battery would be cheaper
