Sermon Recordings to CD and MP3

Right now we have at our church a Yamaha CDR - HD 1300 and it is not capable of doing what we now want to do.

I am looking for a machine that can record sermons and store them on a hard disk that can record to CD and ALSO transfer to MP3 to put on a website sermon archive. Does anybody know of a machine that can do both of these?

Thanks!

Andy

A computer.

There might be a cheaper option, but a laptop can record, burn, and post. If those are the only three things you need, there are cheap cheap computers which can do that.

I'm not aware of a recording device with a CD burner and mp3 recorder which would be cheaper.

We used a Dell computer and recorded it straight to hard drive at my church. I works great, and the sound quality was CD or better all the time. When it came time to burn CD's we just used the read/write CD drive and voila.

We run an aux channel out of the board into a $50 USB interface and record into GarageBand on a MacBook Pro. There's absolutely no noise on the line. The first time we did it, I was shocked at the quality of the sound.

Our setup was dirt cheap.

Mixer -> An old computer (running Linux, recording to Audacity) -> Export as MP3

If you play CDs/MP3s during Church (or other times) this also makes the process easier, as the computer is connected to the mixer (don't have to worry about CDs, etc.). We use XMMS (very similar to Winamp) to play music through the mixer to the FOH.

If you can bung a cheap computer with a decent enough sound card together, the setup works out pretty well.
