Wahs

Well, I'm in the process of building a new pedalboard/amp rig. For those of you that don't know, I currently use my laptop as an effects rig. I'm happy with this, but every once in a while it's time for a change, so I'm gonna have a new rig (in addition to my other one) for some different stuff and recording and whatnot.

All this to say, one of my key effects (particularly for worship) is a wah. Which wahs do you guys find works best for sweeping and light wah effects for worship?

Thanks guys.

I use the older JH-1 Hendrix wah because I hate the super-high pitched nasally sound of most wahs. The JH-1 cuts that out and focuses more on a mid-range sweep. I am extremely happy with the pedal, overall. Be aware that it is a pretty notorious tone-sucker, but there is a relatively simple mod to fix that if you are solder-savvy. Great wah pedal for worship because of the significantly decreased harshness.

Vox stuff is my preferred wah for worship music.

I don't own one, but when I get the chance to use them, Vox wahs are by far my favorite for worship.

+1 on the Vox wah but get the older v847 and not the newer v847A. They added a whole bunch of stuff, buffers and what not that detracts from the sound of the pedal. Though the v847A may play better with fuzz pedals if you use one.

I've used Cry Baby's and Vox, but my favorite is my Fulltone Clyde. It's got a bit longer sweep than normal wahs and it doesn't suffer from the notorious tone suck problem most wahs have. Plus the bottom plate is thicker so it's not all bent up from pulling up velcro like my Cry Baby was

I use a Cry Baby sim on my RP250. It's okay, but biased a little higher in the frequency sweep range than I'd really like. I assume the flesh-&-blood Cry Baby is the same way, if the Digitech guys did a good job with the sim.

I use a Morley bad horsie wah and I think it works really well for worship ... I've used it for years for worship ... But if you don't like the spring back action of it, I agree with the rest to a Fulltone or a Vox wah ...
