Question Question from a non-keyboardist

I'm a guitar player and don't really play keys at all. I recently started recording with Acid Music Studio, though, and I see the benefit of being able to put down some simple tracks using MIDI to control soft synths.

The local pawn shops often have some cheapo keyboards on the shelves, usually for around $50. These are typically old Radio Shack or Yamaha amateur boards, not pro gear by any means. But, they have MIDI in & out ports.

So here's the question - how well would one of these work in the role of MIDI controller, using it to control a soft synth?

Any problems I should worry about? Suggestions? Models to avoid?

Thanks!

They would work just fine. I have a cheap Yamaha keyboard that I picked up from a garage sale that is incredibly lame. But it has MIDI in and out ports and it works as a MIDI controller.
