Graphics Request: Help with a project theme

Hey all. I was hoping somebody could help me with a relatively simple graphic. I don't have Photoshop and there isn't really a way to do what I need with my current software.

I need an 'EVERLAST' boxing equipment logo... like this...

Or link here: http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/...ats=0&format=0

...but instead it says 'EVERLASTING'.

It doesn't have to be perfect, as far as matching the font or whatever, just enough that you can tell it's a play on the original Everlast logo. I can do the rest of the work after the basic black and white logo is done, but that part has to look good and I can't even get it to look close.

This is for a church event and I don't know what I could possibly do for you in return, but at least know that it's for a good cause.

Have you tried downloading GIMP and using it? I haven't used it very much, but I imagine between it and Inkscape (another free program) you could work something out.

I am using gimp at the moment. It doesn't seem to have the Text Warp feature that Photoshop does. Never heard of Inkscape, I'll give that a try. Thanks.

I just whipped this together really fast. Not exactly the right font, and it looks pretty stretched to my eyes, but tell me what you think.

That's perfect! It looks wider because it's a longer word, it actually looks exactly like I expected... it wouldn't look exactly the same. Thank you so much, you really helped me out!

I downloaded Inkscape but it won't run on my system, probably due to Snow Leopard.

I'll show you guys the final designs when it's all said and done.

I had the same problem with Leopard. There is a specific way that you have to run it. I can't remember now how I did it, but it is possible. For some reason it works much easier on Windows.
