I want to hear the ACTUAL reason that whaling is so opposed. What makes whales more sacred than any other animal we hunt?

Because we hunted them to near extinction, and now we are trying to let their populations rebound.

I'm not sure about international law but so long as it doesn't violate the Marine Mammal Protection Act it appears to be mostly copacetic. Ambergris, for instance, does not violate the act since the animal produces it naturally and it is collected once it washes ashore.
