Component types

So two or three weeks ago I converted my DS-1 to the Keeley SEM/Ultra. As I go back over what I did (and I part more components for it this past week) I found that there were some discrepancies between what I bought/used and what Keeley uses. In terms of the component values, what I used was (based on the instructions) identical, however he uses all silver mica caps whereas I used a combination of (I think) polyester film and ceramic caps. How much of a difference (if any) in sound would I expect to get from using all silver mica (if the local shop carries them...) vs. other capacitor types?

With most components, what they are made of is definitely a contributing factor to tone. It may be a very noticeable difference, or you may not be able to tell any difference at all. I'd say trying the silver mica capacitors and seeing what happens would be a good course of action. Chances are, it will make it sound slightly different, though whether or not it sounds any better than what you put in originally is going to be completely up to your ears.
