Gwen, any idea how long it would take to heat up the wings enough in crockpots? | 2 hours on high. The wings should be defrosted before that though. |

| Thanks.
Wellll..... so Anna and I are trying to decide if we're gonna go with the whole wings, snacks, cake idea... if we do that, then the reception will be in the afternoon. That fits very nicely into our budget.
However, Anna had really hoped for a night reception with a dance... which unfortunately does not fit so nicely into our budget. |

| Alrighty, well Anna told me out of the blue today that she is okay with doing the reception in the afternoon. Soooooo it looks like that's what we're going to run with.
We're thinking we'll have some simple sandwiches, fruit, veggies, cake, and (thanks for the idea, Eric) wings! haha
How many wings did you plan on per guest when you had your reception, Eric?
We're thinking since it's going to be in the middle of the afternoon (probably around 3) that we don't need to have a ton, especially since there will be sandwiches as well. Does 3-4 wings per guest sound reasonable? |

| Well, my lovely fiance has taken on the task of designing the wedding invitations and RSVPs herself and she has finalized all but the wording. They look great. When they're finished I might post a picture here.
But I was wondering as to how exactly we need to present the finished design to a printer to get them done. I've never gotten a personal design professionally printed before so I have no clue. Would they just take a JPEG, or what? How much spacing do I need on the edges? etc...
The invitation she's designed is actually a word document (weird, I know) which looks great, but I'm just worried there will be a compatibility issue from my PC to the printer.
Any info is appreciated, mis amigos. |

| usually you save a file on a flash drive and take it to them. my roommate and I made our senior recital posters, invitations and programs ourselves on publisher, saved them on a flashdrive, and took them in to the printer. you might call ahead and see if they want you to save the file as a pdf. (if you don't know how, it's super easy. all you do is hit "save as," highlight the .doc part and change it to .pdf and it'll do it automatically.) it's really easy to get stuff printed, though. maybe just ask them about specific guidelines or policies for sizing and font, because my roomie and I ran into some sizing issues, and had to make a couple of drafts to give to the print shop so they could test them and see what looked best. |

| Well, it's been over two months since I last updated this, so I shall do just that now:
I have graduated from the School of Worship, 8 days ago to be precise. Since then Anna and I have packed up all of our things and moved out of our respective apartments. We moved her back to Iowa last Sunday and I was in town for a few days. Then this last Friday we loaded all of my things into another car and drove the 17 hours to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I unpacked all of my stuff into the Pastor's house where this is a basement apartment I'll be staying in. I unpacked yesterday and led worship at onechurch this morning.
After church we all went out and grabbed Chipotle for lunch and then my family and Anna headed back to Iowa.
Now begins what I fear will be the worst two months of my life.
Since the beginning of our relationship almost 2 years ago, Anna and I have only gone about a week without seeing each other. So these next 8 weeks will be pretty suckish.
But enough of that, no need to complain. On to wedding planning stuff..
ummm the planning is almost done, really. We finally got our wedding party all set in stone while I was in Iowa this last week and figured out exactly where on the farm we are going to have the ceremony.
It is my grandparents farm and they have been nice enough to volunteer to cover the cost of catering a small lunch immediately following the ceremony... so we're having burgers! haha it fits our personalities well and also the farm setting.
So the wedding is going to be at 11 out in the country, short ceremony and then everyone will eat lunch.
After that there will be a regular reception at 3 in the afternoon in the city, about an hour away from the ceremony site.
Then a short honeymoon, and we'll then move Anna out to NC with me the Friday after the wedding.
We've got invitations, guest lists, decorations, locations, rehearsal dinner, all figured out. The biggest thing that Anna is going to work on now is getting the appetizers for the reception all ready and ordering the cake. The biggest thing I have left to do is communicate with my half of the party as to what to wear and the specific times for things and I need to get a playlist together for the reception.
Other than that, Anna just has a few more little things she has to do.
So there is an (pretty long) update.
The wedding is only 9 weeks away. I'm getting very excited! |

| Well we've finalized things with our photographer, everything we need for the ceremony is ordered, wedding party is set in stone, invitations printed and going out in the mail this week.
We have decided to simplify some things to a degree, mostly reception stuff. We're going to be serving cake and ice cream at the reception, the ice cream in a kind of sunday bar style with various toppings. This change is simply because we can't afford any more than that. Also the fact that my grandparents are offering a lunch at the ceremony site before the reception makes us more comfortable with doing it.
So this week Anna is finalizing the order for the cake and figuring out exactly how to execute the sunday bar. After that we simply have to do some last minute things and rent some tablecloths for the reception. |
